Holy Basil’s first Westside location expands the restaurant’s signature design approach of dissolving the boundary between front and back of house, creating a unified and expressive environment. The interior celebrates owner Deau’s creative vision through custom tiles featuring Holy Basil’s graphic icons, designed by the head chef, which continue from the dining room into the open kitchen.

The tiles were produced in Alex Reed’s Los Angeles studio and combine recent Holy Basil artwork with photographs of the team, childhood images from Deau’s upbringing, and subtle references to key moments in the restaurant’s history (including a hidden nod to the infamous broken window at the downtown location for those who can spot it!).

By surrounding both the kitchen and dining areas with these personal stories, the space places family, community, and narrative at its center and invites every guest to become part of Holy Basil’s continuing journey.
